Mrs. Vicy Beachum Kirven

Mrs. Vicy Beachum Kirven was born September 29, 1923 to the parentage of Clarence 
Beachum and Katherine Silmon Beachum in Delia Community, Limestone County, Texas. 
She passed away Thursday, August 2, 2018 at her home in Sandy Community, Coolidge, 
Texas. Visitation will begin Friday, August 10, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at 
Moore;s Angelic Funeral Home and A Wake Service with the family present from 
6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.

Funeral services will be held with Eastern Star Rituals Saturday, August 11, 
2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the All Faith Chapel – Mexia State Supported Living Center 
Chapel Drive, Mexia, Texas 76667 with Pastor Henry Chambers Jr., Officiating. 
Interment will be in the Sandy Creek Cemetery, Coolidge, Texas.

She was a member of the Sandy Grove Primitive Baptist Church, Coolidge, Texas.

On July 19, 1942, she married the love of her life, Mr. Moses Kirven. To this 
union, they were blessed with thirteen (13) children. She was preceded in death 
by her parents, her husband, Moses of 65 years, two sons, William “Pete”, and 
Earnest Kirven. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Deatrice Beachum, 
three sisters, Pearl Moseley, Rachel Stephens, and Lena Kirven.

Mrs. Kirven was a house wife for many years. She was a pillar of strength and a 
very hard worker. She was a disciplinarian, but a very nurturing Mother to her 
children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and was truly loved by all. She 
loved gardening, canning, making preserves and quilting. She was an excellent 
cook, and even better at managing a very strenuous household budget.

She later pursued a career outside the home as a seamstress at Creditor’s 
Manufacturing Company in Hubbard, Texas. She later worked for Sportswear Sewing 
Factory, Mexia, Texas. Finally, she accepted a position at the Mexia State School, 
where she worked as a Resident Trainer. She retired after twenty years of service.

Mrs. Kirven was the primary caregiver to her husband, Moses for many years after 
he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease later in life. She was determined to 
make sure they would not be separated until God saw fit. She continued to manage 
the farm along with her children.

Mrs. Kirven leaves to cherish her memory; five (5) daughters, LaVern K. Jackson 
(Bobby), DeEvelyn K. Heggins, Madeline Kirven-Gamble (Don), Dallas, TX, Jacqueline 
K. Gee (Winford), Mexia, TX and Sharon D. Kirven-Henley, M.D., (Rex) Hewett, TX; 
six (6) sons, Floyd Kirven, Elvin Kirven, Sandy Community, Robert James Kirven 
(Gloria), Mexia, TX, Otis Kirven (Pearlie), Dallas, TX and Stelvin Kirven 
(Regina), Sunnyvale, TX, Felix M. Kirven, M.D. (Ruth), Virginia Beach; daughter-
in-law, Bennie Kirven, one sister, Pearlie Mae Beachum, Mexia, Texas, two sisters-
in-law, Laura Whitehead, Gussie Freeman, Dallas, TX; thirty-four grandchildren; 
61 great grandchildren, 24 great-great grandchildren, two close cousins, J.W. 
and Preston Beachum, good friend, Maria Salgado and numerous nieces, nephews, 
other relatives and friends.
