Freestone County, Texas Obits Amarillo Globe-News, July 23, 2004 Lee D. Knight Lee D. Knight, 78, of Amarillo died Wednesday, July 21, 2004. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Memory Gardens Mausoleum with the Rev. Glendell Smith officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mr. Knight was born July 10, 1926. He was raised in Teague. He served in the Marine Corps during the Korean conflict. Mr. Knight worked for Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad as a conductor for 42 years. Lee and his family resided in Childress before moving to Amarillo in 1976. Mr. Knight married Janice Moon on June 5, 1954. Papa loved to garden, watch sports, read and most of all play with his beloved dog, Emit. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1996 and a son, Larry Knight, in 1995. Survivors include a daughter, Marti Shackelford and husband, David, of Amarillo; a son, Tracy Knight of Childress; a stepdaughter, Jan Kelley of Lubbock; a daughter-in-law, Paula Knight of Midland; two granddaughters, April Cross and husband, Ty, of White Deer and Nikki Shackelford of Amarillo; and several other grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family will be at 4219 Erik St.
