The Fairfield Recorder - June 21, 1895 issue

Mr. G. W. Koonce living two or three miles east of Mt. Zion, died last Tuesday
after about two weeks illness. Mr. Koonce came to this county from Arkansas
several years ago and has since been continuously residing here. He was a quiet,
steady, peaceable citizen. Thus another good old man has been gathered to his 
Father's to rest.  He leaves a wife, three sons, and two daughters. The Recorder
extends sympathy to the widow and children in their loss. May the rest that he
found be sweeter than any ever found by the children of men on earth.
