Darlene Emmons Kubacak
1930 – 2003

Mrs. Darlene Emmons Kubacak, age 73, of Rockdale, passed away Monday, August 
18, 2003 at Hillcrest Hospital in Waco after a long battle with ovarian cancer. 

Darlene was born May 18, 1930 in Fairfield, TX, the daughter of Jabe and Gertie 
Lee Emmons. She graduated from Fairfield High School in 1946 and married Harvey 
Castles of Buffalo in 1951. Darlene worked as a practical nurse for many years 
at Fairfield Memorial Hospital. She later worked for General Telephone Co. 
(GTE) in Fairfield and Bryan, and retired from GTE in the late 1970s. In 1979 
Darlene married August L. Kubacak and moved to Rockdale. She assisted Mr. 
Kubacak in the RVOS Insurance business. Mrs. Kubacak was a member of the First 
Baptist Church of Navasota.

She is survived by her daughter, Sonya Castles Maness and husband Randy of 
Fairfield, TX; step-sons, Michael Kubacak and wife Cathy, of Lexington, TX, 
Lawrence Kubacak and wife Jeanne of College Station, TX, T. Sgt. Kenneth 
Kubacak and wife Lisa of Beale Air Force Base, CA; grandchildren, Tom Maness 
and wife Tanya of Arlington, TX, Alicia Cowart and husband Joe of Starkville, 
MS, Jennifer Maness of McKinney, TX, Christy Easley and husband Derek of 
Hammond, LA, Tiffanie, Kristopher, Matthew, Courtney, Makenzie, Jonathan and 
Michael Kubacak all of College Station, TX, and Michael and Austin Kubacak of 
Beale Air Force Base, CA; great grandchild, Darren Easley of Hammond, LA; and 
special relative, Juliette Coleman of Fairfield, TX. She was preceded in death 
by her parents, Jabe and Gertie Lee Emmons; sister, Elsie Lee Hughes; and 
husbands, Harvey Castles and August L. Kubacak.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, August 21, 2003 @ 5:30 p.m. at Capps 
Memorial Chapel with Rev. Don Sims officiating. Burial will follow at Fairfield 
Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 20th from 6:00 - 
8:00 p.m. at Capps Memorial Chapel, 113 E. College, Fairfield, TX. Serving as 
pallbearers are Tom Maness, Kristopher Kubacak, Matthew Kubacak, Luther Alfred 
Coleman, Joe Cowart and Donnie Sims. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. J. Richard 
Jackson and Jimmy Coleman.
