Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Obituaries of Nancy Catherine (Heller) Lake (Dec. 12, 1822 - Apr. 1, 1886) Fairfield Recorder - April 2, 1886 issue "LOCAL NEWS Mrs. N. Lake, who illness was mentioned last week, still lingers in a most critical condition." ================================================= Fairfield Recorder - April 9, 1886 issue "WARD PRAIRIE PENNINGS April 6, 1886 On Friday last, in the presence of a number of sorrowing relatives and friends, the remains of Mrs. N. Lake, who died the day before in Fairfield, were laid to rest beside her husband in Lake Chapel cemetery. Death has thus removed from the turmoils and sorrows of this world, a kind and affectionate mother, a good neighbor and a bright Christian, who daily life was an illustration of the faith she professed. She was a woman whose life was guided by a sense of right and honor. One motive ran like a silver thread through all her actions and brightened at the touch of death. We tender to the bereaved sons and daughters our sincere sympathies. - Leo" ------------------------------------------------------- (same) issue "DIED Mrs. N. Lake who was ill so long in our town died on Thursday of last week about noon, after the Recorder had gone to press, and was partly printed. The deceased was quite an old lady, about 64 years of age. She was originally from South Carolina, and with her husband, the late Mr. Simeon Lake, came to this county soon after the war. Mrs. Lake was a pious Christian lady, and affectionate mother, and a good neighbor and friend. Her remains were interred last Friday, near her former home, beside the grave of her husband, in the Lake Chapel cemetery. The deceased left to mourn her loss a large number of sons and daughters, all of whom are grown and residents of the county." =================================================
