Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Obituary of Etta Mae (Barto) Lamb (October 23, 1924 - January 1, 2015) Etta Lamb, 90, of Tool, Texas, passed away on Thursday, January 1, 2015, at Chandler Nursing Center in Chandler, Texas. Etta Mae Lamb was born in Chandler, Arizona, on October 23, 1924 to Lawrence Dallas Barto and Mirl (Davis) Barto. She graduated from high school in Romaland, California and from college at Riverside Community College of Riverside, California, earning a Bachelor’s Degree. Etta and Myrell Lamb were married on October 3, 1944 in Riverside and enjoyed 56 wonderful years together. Myrell preceded her in death in 2000. Throughout her life Etta taught school, worked as a beautician, and a professional cake decorator. She and Myrell loved doing everything together, especially being outdoors, camping and fishing. Etta particularly enjoyed butterflies and raised and sold them. She enjoyed having pets of all kinds, especially her dogs. Etta was an active member of First Baptist Church in Tool, Texas. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Etta is survived by her daughters: Carol Medford and her husband, Jarron, of Tool, Texas, and Marilyn Shute and her husband, Rusty, of Edom, Texas; her grandchildren: Fred Winston of Tool, Texas, Russell Scott Shute and his wife, Claudia, of El Paso, Nicole Love and her husband, Kevin, of Chandler, Arizona, and Jason Medford and his wife, Krystal, of Canton, Texas; many great- grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Neta Snyder and her husband, Jim, of Bishop, California. Etta was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Myrell, and her son, Wendell James Lamb, in 2013. Visitation with the family will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 5, 2015 at Corley Funeral Home. A celebration of life service will follow at 2:00 p.m. on the same day, following the visitation, at the Corley Funeral Home Chapel, with Russell Shute officiating. Interment will follow the service in Wortham Cemetery in Wortham, Texas. Pallbearers will be Jarron Medford, Rusty Shute, Kevin Love, Russell Shute, and Jared Faulk. Honorary pallbearers will be Hunter Love, Michael Shute, Fred Winston, and Jason Medford.
