Mexia Daily News- Nov. 1, 2003 edition M. B. Lancaster M. B. (Beuford) Lancaster, 94, of Mexia, passed to The Lord on Thursday at the Manor Nursing Home. Visitation for family and friends will be this evening from 6 until 8 o'clock at Porter Funeral Home-Mexia. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock in Porter Chapel. Burial will be in Cotton Gin Cemetery. The Rev. James Herrington will officiate. Mr. Lancaster, born April 30, 1909, in San Saba, moved to Mexia and married Bertha Padgett. The couple moved to Houston where he worked for Eastern States Refinery for 35 years. He and Bertha returned to Mexia in 1963. She died and he re-married and lost two wives, Ethel Means and Mildred Bosley. A member of Point Enterprise Baptist Church, Mr. Lancaster was an active volunteer at the Senior Citizens Center where he enjoyed helping with lunches for the Meals on Wheels program. He is survived by a daughter, Jona Fay Cooper of LaPorte; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Evelyn Lancaster of Mexia; six grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Rayford Lancaster of California, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Huey and Anna Lancaster, and by a son, John Wayne Lancaster.
