Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Madelyn Lane Funeral services for Madelyn Lane, 80, were held on Thursday, September 26, 2013, at 10:00a.m. at Bowers Funeral Home in Teague. Rev. Lloyd Lane, Rev. Bo Davis, and Rev. Jimmy Davis officiated. Interment followed the services at Dew Cemetery. Mrs. Lane passed away on Monday, September 23, 2013, at her residence in Lanely. She was born in Lanely on November 30, 1932, and lived in Freestone County for all of her life. She married Lowry Lane on September 3, 1947, and shared over sixty-six years of marriage together. Mrs. Lane loved to grow flowers and to garden, but her passion was her family and her church. She served as church secretary at Grace Tabernacle in Dew for about fifty years. She is survived by her husband, Lowry “Doc” Lane of Lanely; two sons, Lynnie Lane & wife Stacii of Lanely, and Lloyd Lane & wife Cheryl of Buffalo; one daughter, Penny Scruggs & husband Kevin of Lanely; seven grandchildren, Lloyd Lynn Lane, Amy Gaskins, Stacy Morris, Talana Lane, Daniel (D.J.) Lane, Lauren Scruggs, and Lane Scruggs; ten great-grandchildren, Bethany Gaskins, Lawson Lane, Colby Olivarez, Allyson Gaskins, Landry Shelton, Camryn Olivarez, Karsyn Shelton, Lyndi Lane, Kenady Morris, and Demitri Lane; one sister, Lucille Williams of Lanely; sister-in-law, Doris Myers of Buffalo; special friend, Patricia Lane Hilton; other relatives and friends. Mrs. Lane was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Sharon Lane; her parents, Fal & Alma Allen; two brothers, Travis Allen and Buck Allen; one sister, Lillian Daniels; and one sister-in-law, Arlene “Aunt Sis” Lane.
