Freestone County, Texas Obits Corsicana Daily Sun newspaper - Aug 20, 2004 edition Guy Keeton Lansford Guy Lansford Guy Keeton Lansford passed away peacefully at home in Richland surrounded by his loving family Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2004. He was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Jonnye Lansford; and daughter, Zoe Lansford Cofer. Born Sept. 10, 1915, to John and Ella Lansford in Limestone County, "Pappy" was blessed with a full, wonderful life including daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Charles Ray of Richland; and grandchildren, Terrie Ray Wylie and husband Mike, Jill Ray Rash and husband Gene of Richland, Kelly Cofer and wife Kathy of Tupelo, Miss., and Jan Cofer London and husband Stephen of Katy. He will also be missed by sisters, Faye Eddins of Corsicana and LaRea Dickson of Irving; his 10 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Guy began his adulthood in 1933. A junior in high school, he married his high school sweetheart, Jonnye Cunningham, who at the time was a senior. They both quit Richland High School and Guy began working full time at the family-owned Richland Store. He later bought the store from his father, John Lansford, and continued to operate it for the next 50 years with the help of his wife, Jonnye, while also managing the 7L Ranch. Daughters Kay and Zoe would soon help operate the family business with grandchildren to follow. Throughout his long accomplished life, Guy would experience the Great Depression, oil booms, baby booms, and Prohibition. He served as mayor of Richland for 15 years and held a seat on the Navarro County Lake Planning and Zoning Commission for 10 years. Guy was a man of humor, a loving father and grandfather who after retirement enjoyed being surrounded by his family, travel ing, and playing dominoes with friends in Streetman. Pappy will be missed, but his life will carry on in all of us. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 21, at Corley Funeral Home in Corsicana with graveside following at Richland Cemetery. The Rev. Nanette Wyatt and Brother Bill Honea will be officiating. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Pallbearers will include great-grandsons, Marlon Cockerell and Bryce London, and nephews, Bob Dickson and Jody Farmer, as well as Kenny Hughes and Jimmy Rash. Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Bryant, Arthur Patrick and the Streetman Domino Boys. Arrangements by Corley Funeral Home.
