Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Houston Chronicle newspaper - 06/13/2004 edition LAPIERRE Funeral arrangements are complete at the Zoeller Funeral Home for LAWRENCE G. LaPIERRE, who passed away on Thursday, June 10, 2004 at his residence in New Braunfels at the age of 78 years. He is survived by his wife, Nell of New Braunfels; daughter, Laurie Ellen White of New Braunfels; two grandchildren, Emily and Andrew White of Dallas, Texas; brother, Howard LaPierre of California; two sisters, Sylvia Huntington of New Mexico and Carolyn Rokes of Maine. Mr. LaPierre was preceded in death by one son, Mark. Mr. LaPierre was born in the township of Greenville, New Hampshire on November 8, 1925. He served in the Army Air Corp during WW II, married Nell D. Wren in 1945 and moved to Houston, Texas. He worked for the American Can Company for 32 years and retired in 1982. In Houston Mr. LaPierre served as an assistant Boy Scout Leader, taught Sunday School classes at the Peace United Presbyterian Church, delivered meals to the elderly through Helping Hands Charity and visited the elderly in nursing homes. In New Braunfels he was a member of the Lions Club and helped at the Senior Citizens Center. He attended the New Braunfels Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be from 2-4 P.M. Sunday at the Zoeller Funeral Home in New Braunfels. Services will be Monday, June 14, 2004 at 11:00 A.M. at the New Braunfels Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Ken Peters and the Rev. Lynda Dinsdale officiating. Graveside Services will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 A.M. at the Union Cemetery in Freestone, Texas. The Rev. Ray Suarez of Houston, Texas will conduct the service.
