Hazel Ann (Pettigrew) Leonard

TEAGUE - Funeral services for Mrs. Hazel Ann Leonard, 93, will be conducted
Wednesday afternoon at 1 o'clock in Ricks-Bowers Funeral Home Chapel. Brother
Bennie Mize will officiate, and burial will be in Sardis Cemetery near Jewett.

Mrs. Leonard, born Oct. 30, 1910, to Mr. and Mrs. Claude Pettigrew at Newby,
died Monday morning. She was reared in Newby and Jewett, and moved to Donie
after retiring from the work force.

She was a member of Donie Baptist Church and began her elementary school
teaching career at Ephesus School in Jewett, and later made her home in
Galveston. She was retired from the Galveston ISD.

Mrs. Leonard loved being an educator and loved her nieces, nephews, and all
children.

She was preceded in death by her husband, L.L. Leonard; by parents Claude and
Lillie Pettigrew; by a brother, C.G. Pettigrew and by a sister, Louise Kimble.

Surviving are a sister and brother-in-law, Joe Nell and James DeVine of Donie;
nieces - Hazel Holden of Houston, Carol Keith of San Antonio and Dianne Timmes
of Donie; and a nephew, Joe James DeVine of Denton; four great-nieces and two
great-nephews.
