Deceased Name: Edgar Lee Lewis

SPRINGTOWN - Edgar Lee Lewis, a retired paint contractor, died Monday at a 
Springtown nursing center. He was 71.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at White's Funeral Home in Springtown. 
Burial will be in Long Cemetery in Powderly, Lamar County.

Mr. Lewis was born in Cotton Gin, Freestone County, and was a member of LaJunta
Baptist Church.

His wife, Dovie Lewis, died last year.

They were married 46 years.

Mr. Lewis was a veteran of World War II and received the Purple Heart.

Survivors: Two sons, Edgar L. Lewis Jr. of Estes Park, Colo., and Jake Lewis 
of Paris; two daughters, Carolyn Arrington of Denver and Dovie Ann Thomas of 
Fort Worth; five sisters, Pat Hewitt of Springtown, Mary Johnston of Matagorda
Bay, Leona Cordell and Laverne McRoberts, both of Azle, and Dorsey Abshire of
Alvarado; 16 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
