Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Mexia Daily News Fred Lewis (1922-2011) (Posted Wed) The Angelic Hosts came for Fred Lewis, age 88, Monday morning, January 24, 2011, at his residence in Teague among loving family and devoted friends. Viewing will begin Friday, January 28, 2011 at 10 a.m. and a Wake Service, with the family present, will be held from 6-7 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, January 29, 2011 at Noon in the Grove Island African Methodist Episcopal Church, 561 FCR 901 in Teague where Rev. Stanley Johnson is pastor. Officiating will be Rev. Arnold Scott and the Eulogist will be Pastor Lewis People of Freedom Baptist Church in Mexia. Interment will be in the Grove Island Cemetery with military funeral honors. Fred was the youngest child of Earsker and Polly Lewis and was born in Teague on July 31, 1922, where he grew up and attended the Furney Richardson School. He was baptized in the Asia Primitive Baptist Church of Teague and had been married to Mary D. Daniels and Beatrice Tucker. He served in the United States Army and retired from the City of Dallas Parks and Recreation Division. Surviving are: a son: Don­ald Joe Lewis and his wife, Gwendolyn of Miami, Florida; four daughters: Ida Fryar and husband, Norwood of Golds­boro, North Carolina; Marva Nella Lewis, Ft. Worth, TX; LaPearl Lewis of Lynnwood, California; and Sheryl Dawn Webster of Dallas, Texas; a sister: Mrs. Mae Nella Palmore of Dallas, a Special Niece: Ri­ta K. Lewis of Dallas, Texas; 10 Grandchildren; 18 Great-Grandchildren;other relatives and many special friends. Moore's Angelic Funeral Home, 406 Monroe Street, Teague, Texas is serving the Lewis Family.
