LINTON Funeral services for Mr. Charlie Linton, 76, were held on Saturday, February 2, 2008, at Little Flock Baptist Church near Jewett, Texas. Bro. Jim Bosley and Bro. Tad Traylor officiated and interment followed the service at Little Flock Cemetery. Mr. Linton was born on May 22, 1931 in Chesterville County, South Carolina and passed away on Tuesday, January 29, 2008, at Palestine Regional Hospital. He and his wife Nell married on July 23, 1955, and have been married for over 52 years. He is a veteran of the United States Air Force where he served in Korea with the Mosquitoes Unit. He was a Baptist, a member of the VFW and the American Legion. He enjoyed bowling and gardening in his younger years and raised cattle for many years for himself and his brother-in-law. He was very loved by his grandchildren. Mr. Linton is survived by his wife Nell Linton of Marquez; his son Kelly Linton and wife Jeannine of Spring; his daughter Kristy Vandegriff and husband Tom of Marquez; his special nieces, Sue Ellen Wester of Lumberton, North Carolina, Delores (D.G.) English of Rosmon, North Carolina and Charlene Lyon of Houston; his special nephew Duncan Chapman of Houston. Also surviving Mr. Linton are his grandchildren Kelline, Caleb, Joshua and Luke Linton of Spring and Matthew, Brianna, Brandy, Jonathan, and Stephanie Vandegriff of Marquez; his brothers-in-law Charles Cox and wife Geri of Marquez and J.W. Cox and wife Brenda of Teague; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mr. Linton was preceded in death by his parents Hiram Kelly and Maybell Pharr Linton and seven brothers and seven sisters.
