Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Mexia Daily News - March 12, 2007 edition W. Dean Little GROESBECK - W. Dean Little, 77, of Fairoaks, passed away Monday, March 5, 2007, at his home. Visitation will be this evening (Wednesday) from 5 until 7 o’clock in Groesbeck Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 8, 2007, at the First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Clayton Griggs, the Rev. Marcus Sheffield and Deacon Dwight Mahoney officiating. Burial will follow in Oakes Cemetery at Fairoaks. Mr. Little was born August 8, 1929, to J.O. and Willie Lee Lansford Little in Sanders Creek, Limestone County, Texas, and continued to live there until his death. He was employed at the Texas Highway Department, Waco District, until his retirement in 1990. He was an avid rancher and farmer for his entire life. He passed the love of his homeplace nd cattle, down to his family. He married Nelta Sims on February 2, 1951, in Teague. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Groesbeck, Post 288 VFW and served in the Korean War from 1951 to 1953. Mr. Little was preceded in death by his father, J.O. Little. Survivors include his wife, Nelta Sims Little of Donie; son, Charles Dean Little and wife Sue of Donie; a daughter, Moni Jo Mahoney and husband Dwight of Lake Limestone; grandchildren - Clinton Dean Little and wife Monica of Dew, Cassi deNan Little of Dallas, Phillip Mahoney and wife Tracy of Ashburn, Virginia, Paul Mahoney and wife Kim of Boerne; five great-grandchildren - Bryan, Eryn, Courtney, Madison and Marley Jo Mahoney; his mother, Willie Lee Schellhamer of Groesbeck; and his sister, Mondelle Grube of Groesbeck. Pallbearers are Stephen Sims, Bobby Reed, Billy Turner, Cody deCordova, Richard McGowan, Jerry Staggs, Keith Rand and Steve Gilliam. Honorary pallbearers are John Deen Rader, Arlie Vickery, Jack Thompson, Bernice Thompson, Elbert Engram and Welton Walker.
