Mexia Daily News - Jan. 21, 2005 edition Joe Louis Lockhart Funeral services for Joe Louis Lockhart, 26, of Waco, and formerly of Mexia, will be held Saturday afternoon at 1 o'clock in Moore's Angelic Funeral Home Chapel of Teague. Officiating will be the Rev. Larry Gray, pastor of Mount Gideon Baptist Church, and the Rev. A.L. Thibodeaux, pastor of Fairfield Baptist Church. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, on Highway 84, west of Mexia. Mr. Lockhart, who was murdered in Waco on Sunday, was born April 24, 1978, in Wortham. He was self-employed in sales, was a member of Little Zion Baptist Church, and graduated in 1997 from Mexia High School, where he excelled in basketball and other sports. Surviving are his children - Jo Rel of Mexia, LeBrown and Jaraerzha, both of Waco; his parents, Joe Louis and Gloria Lockhart of Mexia; brothers and sisters - Randy Lockhart of Groesbeck, Roderick Porter of Dallas, Tamara (Tammy) Lockhart and Stephanie Lockhart, both of Mexia; his grandfather, Ennis Ray Asberry of Groesbeck; aunts - Loria Bell and husband Ricky of Groesbeck, Opal Rhodes of Waco, Della Thomas and Ruby Lockhart Evans, both of Mexia; an uncle, James (Sugar Bear) Lockhart of Mexia; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers are Gregory Johnson, Christopher Solomon, Anthony Forge II, Kenneth Banks, Bo Brown, Leon Gray, Billy Mack, Sergeant Allen Asberry and Marco Blacknall.
