Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Fairfield Recorder September 15, 2007 Addie Mae Kirk Loewe Funeral services were held last week for Addie Mae Kirk Loewe, 69, of Rockdale who died Monday, Sept. 3 at her home. Internment followed at Milano Cemetery. Mrs. Loewe was born on Dec. 4, 1937 in Milano and was raised by her grandparents Asa and Mattie McGregor. She married Harold Herman Loewe on July 3, 1954. A longtime resident of Calvert, Mrs. Loewe was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Bremond serving as a Sunday school teacher and missions director. She worked as chairman for Robertson County Precinct 1. Her involvement with the Republican Party spanned 15 years, assisting with primary, general and city elections. She also served as a treasurer for the Calvert Antique Guild and president of the Calvert Woman’s Club. Mrs. Loewe worked as a layout artist for the Giddings Times & News, Mexia Daily News and the Fairfield Recorder before becoming editor and owner of the Calvert Tribune. Her experience in journalism afforded her the opportunity to serve as a newspaper and yearbook sponsor, carrying a number of students to state UIL academic meets in journalism. For 10 years she worked in public schools with students from Calvert, Harper and Hubbard and owned and operated an antique business in Calvert for more than 20 years. Services were conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church in Bremond with Stan Ortner officiating. Mrs. Loewe was preceded in death by her mother, Thelma McGregor Kirk; grandparents, Mattie and Asa McGregor; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Wiley Jr. and Ruby Kirk and Cecil and Lisa Kirk. She is survived by her son, Dusty Kirk and his wife Lisa of Rockdale; two daughters, Cindy Capps and her husband Barry of Fairfield and Gaye Hawkins and her husband Henry of Rockdale; four grandsons, Ben Capps, Hal Hawkins, Justin Loewe and Lance Loewe; four granddaughters, Erin Capps, Kirby Capps Flandry, Diane Hawkins and Miranda Loewe; brother Wendell Kirk and his wife Nina of Lake Jackson; two sisters Pat Kimmel and her husband J.D. of Houston and Frances Bush and her husband Hulon of Cypress. Arrangements were made by Bremond Funeral Home.
