Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Fairfield Recorder newspaper February 12, 2009 Arlie L. "Shug" Logsdon Funeral services were held Wednesday for Arlie L. "Shug" Logsdon, 76, of Crockett who died Saturday, Feb. 7, in his residence. Mr. Logsdon was born in Huntingburg, Indiana on Aug. 3, 1932. He moved to Crockett in 1963. Mr. Logsdon was a veteran of the Indiana National Guard with six years of service. He was a member of the Crockett Lions Club where he served as president and was also active in the Wesley Chapel Cemetery Association as chairman of the organization. He was employed with Huntingburg Furniture Manufacturing Company as a manager for several years before retiring. Mr. Logsdon was also a member of Saint Francis of the Tejas Catholic Church. Services were held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 11, at Saint Francis of the Tejas Catholic Church with Father Ranjan officiating. Interment followed at Wesley Chapel Cemetery. Mr. Logsdon is survived by his wife of 43 years, Leota LaVerne Logsdon of Crockett; children, Bill Logsdon and wife Kathy of Fairfield, Carey Minter and husband Danny of Crockett and Jeanne Ellison and husband John of Austin; stepchildren, Melody Pinnell and husband Jimmy of Crockett, and Charles Burwitz and wife Marilyn of Buffalo; grandchildren, Brandy Stewart of Midway, Ryan Logsdon of Arlington, Nickolaus Logsdon of Alvin, Jonathan Ellison of Austin and Jennifer Ellison of Austin; step-granchildren, Christina Evans of Crockett, Tyler Burwitz of Bryan and Bryce Burwitz of Buffalo; great-grandchildren, Alexandria, Jaycie, Jay Thomas and Colby; brother, John Logsdon of Jasper, Indiana; and brothers and sisters-inlaw, John Wood and wife Loveta of Houston, Willette Rosson and wife Annette of Wesley Chapel, Selma Rosson of Wesley Chapel and Vera Dishongh of Wesley Chapel. Mr. Logsdon was preceded in death by his wife Patricia Logsdon; daughter, Elaine Logsdon; son, Jeffrey Logsdon; grandsons, Jeremy Logsdon and Jeffrey Minter. Arrangements were made by Callaway-Allee Funeral Home of Crockett.
