Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Fairfield Recorder newspaper January 22, 2009 Daniel Dee Loyd Memorial services were held Friday for Daniel Dee Loyd, 57, who died Tusday, Jan. 13, after loosing his battle with pancreatic cancer. Mr. Loyd was born in Dallas on July 23, 1951 to Dee and Lois Loyd. He was a graduate of R.L. Turner High School in Farmers Branch and attended North Texas University in Denton. Mr. Loyd worked for A&P Grocery for eight years as a student in both high school and college. When the Dallas unit closed in 1975, he went to work Minyard's where he was employed until he became ill. Services were held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 16, at Restland Wildwood Chapel. Mr. Loyd's body was cremated. He is survived by his wife Susan Broun Loyd; two special children, Aaron and Madeline; his mother, Ellen Lois Loyd; sister, Diane and husband J.B. Mason; in- laws, Steve and Mary Broun and his family; nephew, Daniel Dee Roberts and family of Garland; nieces, Colleen McNaughton and family of Hudson, Massachusetts, Sharon John and family of Fairfield, Jamie Alford and family of Arlington, and Jessica Mason of Mexia; and several cousins. Mr. Loyd was preceded in death by his father Doris Dee Loyd; grandparents, Adlai and Inez Pruett, and Author and Willie Vanarsdale; and brother-in-law, John Roberts who died in 1967 in Vietnam. Arrangements were made by Metrocrest Funeral Home and Hilltop Memorial Park.
