Doyle Lucas 
April 27, 1916 - December 12, 2005 


Doyle Lucas, 89, died in the Richards Memorial Hospital in Rockdale on Monday,
December 12. Rev. Lee Eschberger conducted the funeral service in Peace
Lutheran Church in Rockdale. Burial was in the I.O.O.F Cemetery in Rockdale. 

He was born to Anders and Janie (Carter) Lucas on April 27, 1916 in Teague,
Texas. He was raised in Rockdale and returned there from Pasadena 33 years ago
after retiring from Atlantic Richfield after 30 years as a foreman. He married
Lizzie J. Mann in the Peace Lutheran Church in Rockdale on August 27, 1938. He
was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Delton and Avon Lucas and a
son-in-law, Aubrey Hyatt. 

Doyle is survived by his wife, Lizzie Lucas of Rockdale, daughters, Janet Fin
and husband John of Houston, Nelda Hyatt of Conroe, Shirley Sharp and husband
Cameron of Fairfield, Joyce Lerche and husband Nolan of Stafford;
grandchildren, August Lynn, Donna Kreyer and husband Steven, Diane Anderson and
husband Mark, David Fain and wife Tiina, Rhonda Baker and husband Bryan, Laura
Capehart and husband Mike, James Sharp and wife Shelley, Brian Lerche, Amy
Lovetinsky and husband Kyle and Karen Lerche. He is also survived by 16 great
grandchildren. 

He was a graduate of Rockdale High School in 1934 and attended Texas A & M for
two years. He earned his degree from the college of fishing. Me was a member of
First Lutheran Church in Pasadena and of Peace Lutheran Church in Rockdale. He
was a past member of the Masonic Lodge. Doyle enjoyed fishing, hunting,
gardening, dominoes, cards and crossword puzzles.
