Submitted by Dana Stubbs June 19, 1898 Mrs. Lusk Accidentally Killed His Wife Corsicana, Tex., June 18 - News reached the city to-day of a distressing and fatal accident that occurred in the Winkler neighborhood in the southeastern corner of the county night before last. An old couple named Lusk, living in the country near Winkler, just before the hour for retiring were annoyed by the hooting of a large owl near the house. Old man Lusk took his shotgun, which was loaded with small shot, and started for the door to get a shot at the bird, but in handling the weapon while still in the room he accidentally discharged one of the barrels, the full load of shot entering his wife's neck, killing her instantly. She never spoke after the gun fired. The accident has nearly crazed the aged husband and caused the deepest distress in the neighborhood, where the Lusks are highly esteemed. And inquest was held and a verdict in accordance with the above facts rendered.
