L. (Boss) May at the old mill, in Mexia, Thursday evening of last week. The weapon used was a revolver and eyewitnesses say the killing was in self defense, as May was attempting to draw his pistol, which caught, when he was killed. Bevil was allowed bond in the sum of $2500, which he made. May was reared in the Donie neighborhood, and was constable of that precinct at one time. He had been living in Mexia a short while. Bevill was known to may people in this county. Additional Comments: Marion was the son of John Calvin MAY & Mary Ellen HALL. He married Sarah Caladonia "Donia" HANCOCK on 26 Dec 1903 in Freestone County TX. They had three children: Ruby, John Thomas "Bill" and Mary Manilla "Mutt" MAY.
