Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Doris (Ekas) Capps Mabry September 1, 1925 - June 3, 2013 Doris Capps Mabry, 87, of Fairfield, passed away Monday, June 3, 2013 at her residence. Services were held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at Capps Memorial Chapel with Dr. Don Willis and Rev. T. Paul Kethley officiating. Interment followed at Fairfield Cemetery. Pallbearers were Steve Sims, Joe Bond, George Davis, Warren Awalt, O. B. (Brownie) Utley, III, Warren Davis, Dickie Hill and Burt Richards. Mrs. Capps was born September 1, 1925 in Olden, TX, to parents Miller Lardin Ekas, Jr. and Phyllis Marie Smith Ekas. She was a retired registered nurse having attended Texas Tech University and Parkland Hospital School of Nursing in Dallas. In 1950 she and her husband, Ben Capps Jr. moved to Fairfield from Henderson and opened Capps Funeral Home. Mr. Capps preceded her in death on December 31, 1967. She continued operation of the funeral home with her second husband; Manly Mabry, who preceded her in death in 2003. She was a long time member of First United Methodist Church of Fairfield. Left to cherish her memory is a son, Barry Capps and wife Cindy of Fairfield; grandson, Ben Capps and great-granddaughter, Cariss of Fairfield; granddaughter, Kirby Flandry and husband Dannie and great-grandchildren, Taylor and Travis of Fairfield; granddaughter, Erin McKenzie and husband Jeff and great-grandson Judson of Victoria; a son, Mike Capps of Austin; granddaughter, Karli Capps of Austin; granddaughter, Dr. Christa Lows and husband Kent and great-granddaughter Avery and great-grandson Grayson of Mableton, GA; granddaughter, Kelli Wetsel and husband Reagan and great-grandsons Carter, Reese and Rex and great- granddaughter Cameron all of Plano; a brother, M. L. Ekas, III and wife Ann of North Ft. Myers, FL; a niece Sue Dupree of Pine Island, FL; a nephew, David Ekas of Houston.
