Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Griffin Roughton Funeral Home Billy Douglas Mann Sr. (Fairfield) Mr. Billy Douglas Mann Sr. of Streetman, passed away peacefully at the age of 71 on Wednesday March 2, 2005 at his residence. Mr. Mann was born June 8, 1933 in Elmore County Alabama to Nola D. Mann and Lola D. McCain Mann. Bill and Carol moved to Streetman, Texas (Richland Chambers Lake) and made the lake their home for the last 6 years. Bill was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church, where he taught the men's sunday school class and blessed many with his love of the Lord through his music and song. Bill's love for music was spread far and wide to all his friends and loved ones through his gospel singing. His hobby was singing and making recordings and his joy of his was passing them on to everyone he knew. His love for people showed throughout every single day of his life through his songs and deeds. He has touched hearts that even he was unaware of. Bill will be deeply missed by his family and friends, but will be remembered with great love and admiration. I think we would all agree that Bill was "one of a kind". He was strong in the Lord and it showed. He was proud of his family and it showed. Visitation will be 11:00 am - 2:00pm Saturday March 5, 2005 at New Hope Baptist Church. Services will be 2:00 pm Saturday March 5, 2005 at New Hope Baptist Church with Rev. Elton McCann officiating. Burial will follow at St. Elmo Cemetery. Mr. Mann is survived by wife of 34 years Carol Mann, sons Billy Mann Jr. and Don McDaniel Jr., daughters Denise Tucker, Debbie Bradley, Pamela Lee, Stacy Davis. 13 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, sisters Katy Jo Stearns and Faye Foxworth. He is preceded in death by parents and sister Willie Nell Futral who has gone to be with the Lord.
