MARTIN-TALLEY AND DAUGHTER ========================================== Fairfield Recorder - Nov. 5, 1904 issue MARTIN - Eugene Martin was born in Freestone county, Texas, Sept. 8th, 1881, and died at his home four miles northwest of Farifield, Oct. 1st, 1904. He was married to Miss Lizzie Giles, Jan. 2nd, 1900. After struggling for nearly a week with that dread disease, black jaundice, his gentle spirit Saturday about 2 o'clock, left its tenement of clay and soared to the realms above, back to the God who had decreed that his mission on earth had been fulfilled, and called him home. His death, so sad, so unexpected, was a shock to his many friends and a crushing blow to his devoted wife, mother and family. Yes, it was a shock to all. Eugene was a good, honest, upright man, but life many others had never joined any church, but the writer believed him to be a good Christian-hearted man. He had many friends and all who knew him liked him. The pleasant to live a true life and build a character for God while we are permitted to remain in the flesh. The wife has lost a good husband and a nole companion; the little children a devoted father. We trust that they may be able to say as did Job, "The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away, blessed be the name of the Lord." His remains were buried in the Fairfield cemetery Sunday evening by the W.O.W. Lodge, of Fairfield. The bereaved family have the sympathy of all in the sad loss that has befallen them. Weep not for our dear ones who have gone before, only try to live to meet them on the other shore, for this world is only a wilderness of woe. A FRIEND
