Freestone County, Texas Obits Mexia Daily News - September 27, 2006 Teague student dies from wreck injuries By Bob Wright-Editor Mexia, Tx - Megan Mason, 16-year-old sophomore at Teague High School, died Monday morning about 10:55 from injuries sustained in a Friday two-vehicle accident in Teague. Miss Mason, who died in Scott and White Hospital at Temple, was reported to have been leaving Teague High School for for lunch and was attempting to enter Highway 84 Friday when her vehicle was struck by an extended cab utility truck. She suffered head trauma in the tragedy. Her mother is Kim Mason, a Respiratory Therapist at Parkview Regional Hospital. The family resides in Cotton Gin. Megan was born in Mexia on July 12, 1990. Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday afternoon at 1 o’clock in the Teague High School gymnasium. Visitation is scheduled for Porter Funeral Home-Mexia, Wednesday evening from 6 until 8 o’clock. Surviving are her parents, Bailey and Kim Mason of Cotton Gin; a brother, Trent Mason of Cotton Gin; a sister, Hailey Mason of Cotton Gin; her grandmother, Elaine Parker of Nacogdoches; grandparents - Alan and Glenda Duke of Midlothian; a great- grandmother, Pearl Parker of Mexia; great-grandparents, Arvel and Dorothy Pate of Timpson; her boyfriend, Corey Riggs of Teague; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins, along with many friends.
