Mayes, 56, of Fairfield passed away Tuesday, July 29, 2008, at Trinity Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler. Services will be 2:30 p.m. today at Jones Chapel United Methodist Church, 360 Church St., Fairfield, with the Rev. James E. Mayes officiating. Interment will follow at Fairfield Methodist Cemetery. Arrangements by Ross and Johnson Mortuary. ====================================== Harvell G. Mayes Funeral services were held last weekend for Harvell G. Mayes, 56, of Fairfield who died Tuesday, July 29, at Trinity Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler. Mr. Mayes was born in Fairfield on Jan. 6, 1952 to A.M. and Hazel Mayes. He attended Dogan high school in Fairfield but graduated from Navasota high school in 1970.Mr. Mayes was a retired truck driver. Services were held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday at Jones Chapel United Methodist Church in Fairfield with Rev. Jesse E. Mayes officiating. Burial was at Fairfield Methodist Cemetery with Gary McIllveen, Michael Thomas, Larry Washington, Carlton Grant, Edward Grant, Jr. and Morris Keeton serving as pallbearers. Mr. Mayes is survived by his mother Hazel Grace Mayes of Fairfield; daughters Sonya Gibson and husband Greg of Fairfield and Naisha Walker and husband Greg of Palestine; brothers Jesse Mayes and wife Virginia of Poinceana, Florida and Roy Mayes and wife Lee of Dallas; eight grandchildren; uncle Ezell Packard; and aunt Idella Price. He was preceded in death by his father Rev. A.M. Mayes; sisters Gloria Mayes Davis and Claudia Mayes Gooden; and brothers Rosco, Michael and Paul Mayes. Arrangements were made by Ross and Johnson Mortuary of Corsicana.
