Freestone County, Texas Obituaries The Fairfield Recorder Marie Mayo Funeral services were held last month for Marie Mayo, 86, of Rusk who died April 25, in Jacksonville. Mrs. Mayo was born in Trinidad on Sept. 21, 1921, to the late William Jarrett and Minnie Stevens Stanfield. She lived in Rusk for 50 years and was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Mrs. Mayo retired in 1994 after 14 years of service with Rusk Independent School District and had also worked as a child care provider for 30 years. Her hobbies included arts and crafts. Services were conducted by Revs. Don Copeland and G.A. Stanfield on April 28 at the Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home Chapel. Interment followed at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Mayo is survived by her sons Jim Mayo and wife Judy of Henderson and Jerry Don Mayo and wife Teresia of Chapel Hill; daughter Linda Griffin and husband of Streetman; eight grandchildren; and 11great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Aubrey Mayo; sisters Odessa Word and Leona Jackson; and brother Luther Stanfield.
