Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Julian “Mark” M. McCulloch Julian “Mark” born February 22, 1927 in Athens, Texas, passed away January 16, 2014 in Houston. He served in the Navy in the Pacific during World War II. Mark retired from McGraw-Hill after 25 years as one of their top salesman and spent his free time before and after retirement working his ranch in Fairfield. He loved teaching his sons and grandsons life lessons on his ranch as well as his love of hunting, especially for birds with a good bird dog. Mark served as a Deacon of Pecan Grove Baptist Church for many years. He enjoyed supporting many youth baseball programs. Mark is survived by his wife of 69 years, Lola Faye of Richmond, sons, Danny Wayne of Houston, Michael Ray and wife, Judy of Fulshear, grandsons, Jeffrey Michael and wife, Rebecca of Richmond, Kyle Roberts and wife Taryn of Austin, great-grandsons, Julian of Richmond and Marc of Austin. A Memorial Service celebrating Mark’s life will be Sunday, January 26, 2014 at 3 PM at Pecan Grove Baptist Church, 1727 F. M. 359, Richmond, TX 77406. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Mark’s memory to South Texas Children’s Home of Beeville, Texas or The Wounded Warrior Project.
