Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Alexander McDaniel A. McDaniel, the subject of this sketch, was born in Smith county, Mississippi, June 20, 1832 and died December 25, 1909, making his stay on earth 77 years 6 months and 5 days. Moved from Mississippi to Freestone county, Texas, in 1846, and resided in several counties in the state. Was married to Miss Mandy Copeland, in Anderson county, Texas, in 1853. His wife died in Robertson county, Texas, in 1884; was then married to Misses Bettie Garrett in Coryell county, Texas, in 1886. He was an old confederate soldier; enlisted in the army at Crockett, Houston county, Texas, served four years under Captain Waartham, 31st Texas cavalry, company D, Gano brigade. Price's division was in the battles at Camburn, Elkhorn, Pea Ridge, Saline, Cabin Creek, and several others too numerous to mention; disbanded at Richmond, Texas. Moved to Oklahoma in 1901 and spent his last days upon the earth near Frederick. He was a member of the Church of Christ and had been for 35 years. He leaves a wife and a married son, three brothers and one sister and a host of relatives and friends. His body was laid away in the Frederick cemetery. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Betcher, of Frederick.
