(Submitted by Mike Pruitt on 16 May 2006) Mexia Daily News Obituary Notice dated July 7, 1990: [Death date: Jul 06, 1990] Mrs. Cecil "Mama Susie" (Black) McDonald Funeral services for Mrs. Cecil (Mama Susie) McDonald, 94, longtime resident of Shiloh, will be conducted Sunday at 3 in Blair-Stubbs Chapel; officiating will be the Rev. Johnny Curry of Woodway. Burial will be in Shiloh Cemetery with grandsons serving as pallbearers. Mrs. McDonald, a member of Shiloh Baptist Church, had lived all of her life in the Limestone County area and had resided in Shiloh for 57 years. She was active in her church and community life, was a homemaker and also ranched for many years, Mrs. McDonald born in Tehuacana on December 16, 1895, was proceded in death by a son, Billy Gene McDonald, and a daughter, Lizzie Mae Campbell. Mrs. McDonald died Friday afternoon at 3:45 in South Limestone Hospital. Surviving are a son, Cecil McDonald, Jr. of Groesbeck; a daughter, Mrs. Patsy Lock of Baytown; a sister, Mrs. Irene Ellis of Teague; two brothers, Dee Black of Mexia and Elijah Black of Tehuacana; eight grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
