Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Corsicana Daily Sun - Oct 9, 2005 edition Johnny “Mack” McGill Johnny “Mack” McGill, 65, of Groesbeck, passed away peacefully at the Veteren’s Affairs Medical Center in Temple as the result of Cancer on Oct. 7, 2005. Family visitation will be today from noon to 2 p.m. at Porter Chapel in Wortham. Services will be held at Porter Chapel in Wortham on Monday, October 10 at 1 p.m. Interment will commence at Wortham Cemetery. John was born in Wortham on Aug. 12, 1940 and was the sun of A.J. “Dob” Lane and Edna Earle Lane of Wortham and Guy Z. and Marguerite McGill of Tucson, Ariz. John was a 1959 graduate of Wrotham High School and was an All-District tackle on Wortham’s football team. John was preceded in death by his father, Guy Z. McGill, step-father, A. J. “Dob” Lane, and sister, Claudine McGill Fox. He is survived by two sons, Bryan Keith of Incline Village, Nev. and John David of San Dimas, Calif.; daughter, Laura Samona of Reno, Nev. and thirteen grandchildren. John is also survived by three brothers, Bryan McGill of Austin, Jimmy Lane of Dawson and Glenn McGill of Northglen, Colo. and six sisters, Bartine Dickerson and Hope Grayson of Ennis, Jimmie Napper of San Antonio, Bethine Stevens,, Guylene McGill and Timmie Bice of Tucson, Ariz. Death came as a result of cancer. He was born in Wortham on Aug. 12, 1940, the son of A.J. (Dob) Lane (deceased) and Edna Earle Lane of Wortham, and Guy Z. McGill (deceased) and Marguerite McGill of Tucson, Arizona. Mr. McGill, who was reared in Wortham, was a 1959 graduate of Wortham High School and was an All-District tackle on the Bulldog football team. He is survived by two sons, Bryan Keith of Incline Village, Nevada, and John David of San Dimas, California; a daughter, Laura Samona of Reno, Nevada, and 13 grandchildren. John was preceded in death by his faher, step-father and by a sister, Claudine McGill Fox. Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon, Oct. 10, 2005, in Porter Chapel-Wortham. Burial was in Wortham Cemetery with Porter’s in charge of arrangements.
