Freestone County, Texas Obituaries The Fairfield Recorder - January 6, 2011 MARIE MCSPADDEN Funeral services were held Sunday at Bowers Funeral Home in Teague for Marie McSpadden, 88, who died Dec. 31 at Parkview Regional Hospital in Mexia. Interment followed at Greenwood Cemetery in Teague. Mrs. McSpadden was born in Teague on Oct. 18, 1922 and graduated from Teague high school in 1940. On February 25, 1942, she married Billy McSpadden. Mrs. McSpadden was a devoted wife and homemaker for 68 years and was secretary and volunteer at the B-RI Railroad Museum for many years, as well as a charter member of the Rotary Club arts and crafts show. The couple was awarded the citizen’s highest honor of the Bill Boyd Cup for their positive work and influence in the community. They were both active members of the First Presbyterian Church in Teague, taking special care of historical church building until closing in 2003. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, and working crossword puzzles in her spare time. Mrs. McSpadden spent many hours with her family playing games and baking goodies with the children. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and one sister. She is survived by her husband; daughters Karen Whitaker and husband Wayne, and Jean Tucker, all of Teague; sister Jane Trynham of Teague; six grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
