Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Tri-County Leader newspaper - Nov 27, 2008 issue Angye Wiggins Means Services for Angye Wiggins Means, 93, were held Nov. 24 at the First United Methodist Church, Donie. Burial was in the Union Cemetery in Freestone County. Angye died Nov.22, 2008, in a Henderson nursing home. She was born March 13, 1915 in Teague to the late John and Molly Shelton Coburn. She attended Donie High School and graduated from Teague High School at the age of 16 as an honor student. Mrs. Means was a professional artist and owned Angye's Art Studio in El Campo. She was recognized as a professional in mediums of oil, pastel, watercolor and charcoal, receiving many awards for her ability to work in each of these mediums equally. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Gerald Wiggins, formally of Buffalo , in 1966 and Wesley Means of El Campo in 1976, and sisters Dollie Coburn, Lucille Johnson, Vera Crawford and Gay Nell Bond. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Andy Griffin, Troup , and Jeri Ann and Paul May, Donie; a granddaughter and her husband, Gina and Carlos DeHoyos, Liberty City; three grandsons and their wives, Shawn and Nicole May, Austin, Robert and Pam Griffin, Pineville, La., and John Alan Griffin and LaDonna Griffin, White Oak; four great-grandsons, Cody Griffin and Dustin Griffin, both of White Oak, Gabriel May, Austin, and Lance Griffin, Pineville, La.; and a great-great-granddaughter, Samatha Griffin, Ballston Spa, N.Y.; nephews, John Robert Crawford, Corsicana, and R.H. Bond, Conroe; and lifelong friends, Lorene Pate and Shirley Graham, Donie, Pansy Parr, League City, and Judy Davis, Alvin. Pallbearers were sons-in-law and grandsons. Angye's dedication and generosity to needy and homeless children is one of many of her hallmark accomplishments during her long and productive lifetime.
