Freestone County, Texas Obituaries [This is Julius Louis Miller] Fairfield Recorder - Feb 19, 1892 Death of a Good Man Mr. Louis Miller, a former citizens of our town, who had been living at Mexia two years, died there last Saturday morning, the 13th inst. The deceased was a brother of Mr. A. M. Miller of Fairfield and was raised here from early boyhood and lived in Fairfield until he removed to Mexia. He had been in failing health for a year or more. Mr. Miller was a steady industrious man, a gunsmith by trade, and a better one was not in this part of the state. He was a man of quiet retiring disposition and though noted for his unflinching personal integrity. He would sooner be wronged himself than to wrong another, and with all that knew him, his word was his bond. Friend Louis was a good Christian, a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church and also a zealous Mason, one who tried to live up to the principles of the order. The deceased had never married and died at the residence of a good friend, Mr. John Flegel. His remains were brought home under a Masonic escort from the Mexia Lodge and at his own request were taken to the Fairfield Lodge from whence the funeral procession started. He was a mason in Fairfield Lodge and always had a warm attachment for it and requested to be buried by the old brethren. His remains were interred here Sunday evening and a large number attended attesting their esteem for their former townsman. Peace to his ashes.
