The Fairfield Recorder Thursday June 15, 2006 edition Billy Miller Funeral services for Billy Miller were held Saturday at Ricks-Bowers Funeral Home Chapel in Teague, Paul Gauntt officiating. Interment followed at Greenwood Cemetery with military honors. Mr. Miller was born April 29, 1946 in Nederland. He was a heavy equipment operator and a veteran of the U.S. Navy and was an active member and volunteer of Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo from 1995-2000. Other activities Mr. Miller is remembered for are a cook-off benefit for the SPCA to raise money for Katrina victims and other cook-offs which include St. Judes Children's Research Hospital, Sam Houston Jockey Club, Harris County Fair and Montgomery County Fair. He was a member of Competition Cook-off Team "Cactus Cookers" and a member of "Killin' Time Kookers". Mr. Miller died June 7 in Houston at the age of 60. He is survived by his daughters Michelle Sklar of Spring and Renee Martin of Houston; son Charles Miller of Weatherford and 11 grandchildren: Ryan, Kyle, Tyler and Keith Miller of Weatherford, Wade and Leslie Larzelier and Andrew and Eric Arratia all of Houston, Elizabeth Miller and Joey and Alexandria Sklar of Spring. Mr. Miller is also survived by his sisters Carol Prestidge of Teague, Vicki Palasota of Houston and Judy Fox of Madison, Wisconsin; brothers Sandy Garcia of Houston, Charles Allen Miller Garcia of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania and Riley Garcia; uncle Allen Miller of Coolidge; companion for over 20 years, Kim Martin of Houston and other relatives and friends. Preceding Mr. Miller in death are his father Charles Branton Miller; brother Lee Garcia and grandmother Nettie Miller. Casket bearers were Donny Wayne Hornsby, Ted Moffitt, Ricky Wood, Kim Warner, Sandy Garcia and Dennis Sklar. Arrangements were by Ricks-Bowers Funeral Home.
