Freestone County, Texas Obituary Fairfield Recorder - November 02, 2006 Blanchie Lee (Tatum) Mims Funeral services were held Saturday at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church for Blanchie Lee (Tatum) Mims, who died Saturday, Oct 28. Mrs. Mims was born November 21, 1915 in Freestone county, the fourth of ten children born to the late Virgil and Ann (Hair) Tatum. She attended public schools in Freestone county, mainly Avant. At an early age, she united with Avant A.M.E. Church and was an active member until her death failed her. On February 24, 1935, she married Henry Clay Mims. Officating at her funeral was Rev. Jesse Jones. Burial was at Avant Cemetery. Pallbearers were Norman Mims, Christopher Mims, Christopher Durham, Tramaine Echols, Jocques Hayward, and Jerry Durham. Honorary pallbearers were Zachary Mims, Terrance Barrett, Ralph Dials, Fred Anderson, O'Brien Mims, Kerwin Barrett, Walster Gatson and Robert Jackson. Mrs. Mims is survived by her three children, Odessa Mims Moore, Edd W. Mims and wife Mary Ella; and John E. Mims and wife Mary-Jean; 19 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, and 19 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, and by her daughter, Mariann Mims. Survivors include her sons Edd Mims and wife Mary Ella of Fairfield; John Mims and wife Mary Jean of Fairfield; daughter Odessa Mims Moore; 15 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and 19 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by parents Virgil and Ann (Hair) Tatum, and husband, Henry Clay Mims.
