Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Corsicana Daily Sun - Nov 4, 2002 edition Rubie Mae (Johnson) Minze Rubie Mae Johnson Minze, 84, of St. Elmo Winkler passed away Sunday, Nov. 3 at East Texas Medical Center in Athens. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5 at New Hope Baptist Church in St. Elmo with Rev. Elton McCann officiating. Internment will follow at St. Elmo Cemetery. Mrs. Minze's grandsons will serve as pallbearers and great grandsons will be honorary pallbearers. Rubie was born on Sept. 30, 1918. She was preceded in death by her parents Zula and Luther Johnson, brothers Leroy (Hoss) and Oather Johnson and husband Franklin Dudley Minze. Survivors include sisters Peggy Coley Toms, Jewel Perkins and Jettie Bell all of Corsicana; sons John Minze and wife Harriet of Lanview, Bud Minze and wife Sherrill of Streetman and Glenn Minze and wife Sherrie of Streetman; grandchildren Debbie and Ramey Carroll of Lonview, Jeff and Tammy Minze of Corsicana, Eric and Cheryl Minze of Fairfield, Scott and Lauren Minze of Longview, Adam and Linda Minze of Fort Worth, Jody and Teresa Minze of Fairfield, Mindy Minze of Fairfield and Gene and Kelli Minze of Streetman; great grand children Taylor and Tanner Carroll and Jacob and Chandler Minze all of Longview, Morgan and Mason Minze of Corsicana, Cullen and Colbe Minze of fairfield, Garrett and Lane Henry and Aaron Minze of Streetman, Ben and Jake Minze of Cross Roads and Veronica and Valerie Pierce of Fort Worth and many nieces and nephews. Minze - Fairfield Loving husband, caring dad, wonderful granddaddy, Glenn Dale passed from this world to a place where there is no cancer or pain anymore. He was born on Dec. 5, 1947, and passed away on Jan. 29, 2007, in the arms of his loving family at his home in Streetman. He was the youngest of three sons born to Dudley and Ruble Minze. He grew up in the St. Elmo/Winkler community and was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home in Fairfield. Service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 1, at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home Chapel in Fairfield with the burial at Birdston Cemetery in Streetman. John H. ?Hoppy? McGilvary be officiating. Pallbearers will be Mark Duke, Kelly Cobos, Erich Brown, Paul Lopez, John Gellegos and Clay Faughn. Glenn Dale attended Fairfield High School and graduated with the class of 1966. Shortly after graduation he married his high school sweetheart, Sherrie Carroll of Streetman. This was the beginning of a marriage that would last more than 40 years. From this marriage were born three sons: Jeffrey Glenn, Joseph Dean ?Jody,? and Gene Allen. These three red-headed boys would learn from their dad the values of working hard to provide for your family, the fun of preparing for the sitting around the camp fire at the opening weekend of deer season each year, and treating other folks the way you want to be treated. Glenn Dale worked for 30 years at the TXU Big Brown Power Plant in Fairfield. He is survived by his loving wife, Sherrie; sons, Jeff and wife Tammy of Corsicana, Jody and wife Teresa of Fairfield, and Gene of Streetman; grandchildren, Cullen, Colby, Morgan, Mason, Aaron and Averi; brothers, Johnny and wife Harriett of Longview, and Bud and wife Sherrill of Streetman; two aunts, Peggy Toms and Jettie Bell, both of Corsicana; and a host of nephews, nieces and cousins. He also had a special aunt and uncle in his life from the time he married Sherrie, Nell and Harris Wilson Milner of Streetman. Glenn Dale was preceded in death by his father and mother, Dudley and Rubie Minze; and by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Gordon ?Bert? and Edith Carroll.
