Mexia Daily News - Feb. 4, 2004 edition Shirley Sue (Richardson) Montgomery Funeral services for Mrs. Shirley Sue Montgomery, 68, of Mexia, were conducted Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock in Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating was the Rev. Marcus Sheffield, pastor of First Baptist Church. Burial was in Tehuacana Cemetery. Mrs. Montgomery, born Dec. 24, 1935, at Stewards Mill (Freestone County), died Friday in Hillcrest Hospital at Waco. She had resided her entire life in this area, and was a member of First Baptist Church of Tehuacana. She was Dining Room Supervisor and Dorm Charge at Mexia State School, from where she retired after 24 years. Surviving are her children - Anna Thompson of Waco, Tammie Adams and husband Warren of Burleson, and Rita Battreall of Mexia; two step-daughters, Nell Montgomery and Catherine Akin, both of Bellmead; four grandchildren - Misty Adams, Jennifer Battreall, Christopher Adams and Cody Battreall; three step-grandchildren - Billy, Tonya and Michael Montgomery; 10 step-great-grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Vanetta and Gorden Medlen of Fort Worth; two brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Suzy Richardson of Mexia, and Stanley and Georgia Richardson of Crowley. Pallbearers were Randy Jones, Robert Jones, Glen Medlen, Barry Richardson, Jordan Richardson and Elex Reed.
