Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Anniece (Patterson) Moody January 29, 1922 - March 2, 2014 Anniece Patterson Moody, 92, of Fairfield, passed away Sunday, March 2, 2014 in Fairfield. Services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at First United Methodist Church with Rev. T. Paul Kethley officiating. Interment will follow at Ft. Parker Memorial Park near Groesbeck. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 4, 2014 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Capps Memorial Chapel. Mrs. Moody was born January 29, 1922 in Freestone County; to parents Hallie J. and Belle Young Patterson of Wortham. Mrs. Moody was schooled in Wortham graduating from high school there in 1938. She graduated with an A.A. degree in 1940 from Westminister College in Tehuacana where she was also a cheerleader. She also attended Sam Houston State University and North Texas State University. She married John Thetford Moody on July 19, 1942 and he preceded her in death in May of 1994. She was a grade school teacher during WWII in Delia, Richland and Kirvin. She had been a member of First United Methodist Church since 1930. She began playing organ and piano at the church in 1936 and continued until 1977 when moving to Fairfield. Other church activities included membership in United Methodist Women; 50 Plus Club and Servant Service. She maintained an active membership since 1950 in the General Federation of Women’s Clubs and served in Coolidge, Kirbyville and Fairfield. She was an honorary life member of the PTA and was active the 25 years her children were in school. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a daughter, Kae Moody Shaw; a brother, W. A. Patterson and a great-grandson, Chance Wheeler. Left to cherish her memory are two sons, John Pat Moody and wife Beverly of Weslaco; Ted Moody of Silsbee; two daughters, Rae Tidwell of Kirbyville; Joy Roberts and husband Earnest of Kirbyville; nine grandchildren, Bryant, Mark, Ryan and Montana Moody; Joshua and Jordan Paninski; Shelby Shaw; Tami Tidwell Horn; Leah Shaw Wheeler; 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
