Freestone County, Texas Obits Houston Chronicle newspaper - Sunday 02/20/2005 edition MORROW QUINTON D. (BUD) MORROW SR. born on 1-30-1920 passed away on 2-15-2005 in Fairfield Texas. His wife of 14 years Betty Moss Morrow preceded him in death in 2001. He is survived by his son Quinton D. Morrow Jr of Spring Texas, Step-daughter Sharyl Pressley of College Station, Grandson GySgt Randy L. Morrow USMC and Grand daughter Tuesday Cammack of lola Texas and their spouses and 4 Great grandchildren. Mr Morrow went to work for Monsanto Chemical Co. in Texas City Texas in 1944 and stayed there until 1954. He helped rebuild the Monsanto Plant after the Texas City Blast He then went to work for the Houston Ind. School Dist. as a printer and photographer. While attending Texas A&M he earned his Vocational Teaching Certificate and taught Offset Printing until the early 70's when he was promoted to Assistant Coordinator of Printing for HISD and retired with that title in 1978. In the Houston area at Playland Park Arrowhead Park , The Astrodome and also Meyers Speedway he was involved in auto racing . As a NASCAR Official for 20 years he worked The Daytona 500 many times and officiated the very first NASCAR race at Texas World Speedway in College Station and also the USAC Races held there . His son joined him in this hobby and they shared many memorable moments together with many great names in auto racing - Bud spent his retirement years at the family farm in Teague Texas where he enjoyed raising cattle and doing genealogy work with Betty. He will be missed by all who knew him and especially his family. He was involved with his grandchildren as they grew up and was a very proud and loving father and Grandfather. Services were held at Blair Stubbs Funeral Home in Teague Texas on 2-17-2005 and a Scottish Rite Service was held at graveside in Salem Cemetery.
