Services are pending at Moore's Angelic Funeral Home in Teague. ============================================================ Fairfield Recorder March 08, 2008 Alice Mae (Vernon) Morton Funeral services were held last weekend for Alice Mae Morton, 70, of Fairfield who died Monday, Feb. 25, at East Texas Medical Center in Fairfield. Mrs. Morton was born in Freestone county on Oct. 18, 1928 to parents Eli and Alma Vernon. She was a member of Saint Hill Church of God in Christ where she served as treasurer and "Mother of the Church." Mrs. Morton enjoyed flowers and loved to garden. Services were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 1, at the First Baptist Church of Fairfield with Anthony Taylor, Sr. officiating. Internment followed at Shiloh Cemetery. Mrs. Morton's grandsons served as pallbearers. She is survived by husband Frank Everette Morton, Sr. of Fairfield; sons Everette Morton of Fort Worth, Wayne Morton, Sr. and wife Fannettie of Dallas, Frank Everette Morton, Jr. and wife Muriel of Fairfield, Robert Morton and wife Dale of Fairfield, Reggie Morton, Sr. of Fairfield; daughters Ruby Gatson and husband Tyree of Fairfield, Cynthia Jarmon and husband Billie of Grand Prairie, Alma McShan and Sarah Morton of Fairfield; brothers Willis Jerry Vernon and wife Dorothy of Fort Worth, Eli Vernon, Jr. and wife Clydell of Fort Worth; sister Mary Lampkin of Waco; aunt Ora Tippens of Fort Worth; 22 grandchildren; and 13 great great grandchildren. Mrs. Morton is preceded in death by parents Eli and Alma Vernon; sister Ollie Gibson; and great grandchildren Jai Alyce and Ashton Ty. She completed her public school education in the Freestone County schools. Mrs. Morton was a member of the St. Hill Church Of God In Christ and was Mother of the Church as well as the church treasurer. She loved gardening and had a passion for flowers. Preceding Mrs. Morton in death are her parents, her sister Ollie Gibson and her great grandchildren Jai Alyce and Ashton Ty. Surviving Mrs. Morton is her devoted husband Frank Everette Morton, Sr.; her sons Everette Morton of Fort Worth, Wayne Morton, Sr. and wife Fannettie of Dallas, Frank Everette Morton, Jr. and wife Muriel of Fairfield, Robert Morton and wife Dale of Fairfield, Reggie Morton, Sr. of Fairfield; her daughters Ruby Gatson and husband Tyree, Jr. of Fairfield, Cynthia Jarmon and husband Billie, Jr. of Grand Prairie, Alma McShan of Fairfield and Sarah Morton of Fairfield. Tippens of Fort Worth; 22 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive Mrs. Morton. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
