Freestone County, Texas Obituaries The Fairfield Recorder August 2008 E. Covey Nash, Sr. Funeral services were held earlier this week for E. Covey Nash, Sr., 91, of Donie who died Wednesday, Aug. 6. Mr. Nash was born and raised in Donie where his mother served as Postmaster for several years. He attended Donie high school and participated in basketball and track. Mr. Nash was drafted into the United States Army where he served in Germany as part of the United States occupational force. While stationed in Germany, he attended hearings of the Nuremberg Trials. After returning stateside, he worked as an accountant for Todd Shipyards for 41 years, in both Galveston and Houston. When he retired in 1982, he served as head of the accounting department. Services were held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 11, at the First United Methodist Church of Teague with Rev. Jeff Powers officiating. Burial was at Wilson Chapel Cemetery near Donie. Mr. Nash is survived by his son E. Covey Nash, Jr. and wife Michelle of Houston; granddaughter Nicole Nash Cagle and husband Tommy of Austin; grandsons Rob Nash of Austin, Michael Nash and wife Cynthia of San Antonio, Reagan Nash and wife Suzanne of Austin, and Bodie Nash and wife Michele of Round Rock; and great- grandchildren Cullen Nash, John Paul Sargent, Gannon Nash, Isabela Nash, Louisa Nash, Lily Nash, and Sara Cagle. Mr. Nash was preceded in death by his wife Pauline "Polly" Nash; son and daughter-in- law, Joe Bodie and Cathy Nash; and infant granddaughter, Jennifer Nash. Arrangements were made by Bowers Funeral Home of Teague.
