Lois Newsom

Funeral services for Mrs. Lois Newsom were held on Wednesday, March 2, 2011, 
at 1:00p.m. at First Baptist Church in Donie. Bro. Bennie Mize and Bro. 
Richard Easterling officiated. Interment followed the services at Birdston 
Cemetery near Streetman.

Mrs. Newsom passed away on Sunday, February 27, 2011, at Trinity-Mother 
Frances Hospital in Tyler. She was born and raised in Streetman and graduated 
from Streetman High School with the Class of 1948, the last graduating class 
before the closing of the Streetman schools. She married Ray Newsom on June 
23, 1951 and shared over fifty-nine years together. Mrs. Newsom loved her 
grandchildren and loved the First Baptist Church in Donie where she was a
member since 1958. She is survived by her husband, Ray Newsom of Donie; two 
daughters, Nina Manor & husband Elbert of Streetman and Jan Baker & husband 
David of Rio Rancho, New Mexico; three grandsons, Roger Grube of Dawson, Dan 
Grube & Heather of Coolidge, and Bryson Baker of Rio Rancho, NM; two 
granddaughters, Brooklyn Baker and Lauren Baker both of Rio Rancho, NM; one 
brother, Billy Steele & wife Cheryl of Amarillo; one sister, Leann Smith of
Euless; her very special friend, Beulah Gilliam of Donie; numerous nieces, 
nephews, other relatives and friends. Mrs. Newsom was preceded in death by
her parents, Hugh W. & Christine Steele.
