Freestone County, Texas Obits Corsicana Daily Sun - Nov 28, 2003 edition Jerry Ray Nichols 11/28/2003 Streetman man killed in motorcycle accident From Staff Reports A Streetman man died Wednesday from injuries sustained in a one-vehicle accident. According to a report filed by the Texas Department of Public Safety, Jerry Ray Nichols, 50, of Streetman, was traveling westbound on FM 416 on a 2004 Harley Davidson Ultra Classic motorcycle at approximately 11:25 a.m. Nichols failed to negotiate a curve and drove off the roadway, crossing SECR 1240 and entering the north ditch. The motorcycle approached a group of trees, traveling partially through them and causing the motorcycle to flip multiple times. The rider was thrown from the motorcycle and landed next to the group of trees. It is unknown whether or not Nichols was wearing a helmet. Nichols was transported to Methodist Medical Center in Dallas via CareFlite and was pronounced dead at 1:25 p.m. His body was then transported to the UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. The accident is being investigated by Trooper John Cabano. He was assisted by Troopers Matt McGinnis and Dane Baker and Sgt. Kenneth Authier. The Corsicana Fire Department and the Streetman VFD also responded.
