Oliver Harris (Monkey) Nichols

Funeral services for Oliver Harris (Monkey) Nichols, 81, were held Wednesday, 
September 16, at Bowers Funeral Home in Teague. Interment followed at Greenwood
Cemetery.

Visitation was held Tuesday with the family present from at the funeral home.

Mr. Nichols passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2009, at Limestone Medical 
Center in Groesbeck. He was a lifelong resident of Freestone County and Teague.

Mr. Nichols worked as a diesel mechanic all his life and also operated a 
lawnmower and small engine repair shop from his home in his later years. He 
loved hunting and fishing, but his greatest accomplishment was raising his 
family of six children.

He is survived by two daughters, Nelda Dunn and family and Joyce Nichols and 
family, all of Teague; three sons, Gary Nichols and wife Kathy of Arkansas, 
Kenneth Nichols and wife Joyce of Teague, and Curtis Nichols and wife Cissy of 
Mexia; 10 grandchildren; 16 greatgrandchildren; two sisters, Tommie Keaton of 
Corsicana and Wanda Holden of Teague; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Mr. Nichols was preceded in death by his wife of fifty years, Joyce Dean 
Nichols and one son, Douglas Earl Nichols.
