ACCIDENTS IN CITY; DEATH, INJURIES NOTED

Two accidents were reported to Fairfield Police Department during the week, one
resulting in the death of a 28-year-old man.

Critically injured when the motorcycle he was riding on collided with an 
automobile Saturday, Feb. 25, was Jerry Lee Nickels, Jr. whose residence was 
listed as Highway Motel on West US 84 in Fairfield.

Following the accident, Mr. Nickels was taken to Fairfield Memorial Hospital 
where he died approximately 30 minutes later from multiple injuries sustained 
in the accident.

Driver of the car was Lloyd Allen Lane of Mt. Pleasant. He and his wife, 
Pamela and their son Joe Heath, and two grandchildren, Leldon and Rocky Bonner, 
of Fairfield, were occupants of the vehicle and Mrs. Lane and the two 
grandchildren reportedly received cuts and bruises.

The accident occurred at the intersection of US 84 and Reunion Street in West 
Fairfield.
