Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Mrs. Laura (Humphries) Nobles (January 8, 1931 - August 6, 2014) Graveside services for Mrs. Laura Nobles, 83, were held on Saturday, August 9, 2014, at Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation was held on Saturday, prior to the service, at the funeral home. Mrs. Nobles passed away on Wednesday, August 6, 2014, at Park Haven Nursing Home in Greenville, TX. She was born in Savoy, TX, but grew up in northeast Texas. After she married, she moved with her husband to South America and raised her family there. Mrs. Nobles was a dedicated mother and was very active in her children’s lives, coaching their little league teams and supporting other activities. She loved to bowl and won numerous awards in tournament play over the years. Mrs. Nobles never met a stranger and enjoyed social gatherings and spending time with people. She was an avid reader and loved to sing in her church. She attended Forrest Cove Baptist Church in Kingwood for several years before joining Shady Grove Baptist Church in Campbell, TX. Mrs. Nobles was loved by all who knew her, especially the nursing staff at Park Haven Nursing Home. She is survived by two daughters, Diana Nobles of Humble and Valerie Woodruff and husband Jack of Greenville; one son, Richard Nobles and wife Belinda of Kingwood; five grandchildren, Christi Herrington, Zachery Lee Scott Nobles, Amber Patrice Woodruff, Adam Truett Woodruff, and Austin Eugene Woodruff; two great-grandchildren, Cylie Marie Nobles and Logan Scott Nobles; one brother, Wilbert Humphries and wife Shirley of Austin; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mrs. Nobles was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Nobles, Jr.; one sister; and six brothers. Bowers Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
