 the tombstone has her death as July 19, but the obituary was in June. She is 
 buried at Fairfield Cemetery.]

   Death of Mrs. Nolan[d]
  Died at the residence of her son in law, Judge A[sa] G[reen] Anderson, in 
Fairfield, Texas, Mrs. Sarah Noland, aged about 76.
   The deceased was one of the oldest residents of this county. She was born in 
Carroll County Mississippi in 1823, and moved to this county in the spring of 
1851, and had lived in and near Fairfield ever since, she and her husband 
arriving about the time the town of Fairfield was laid out. Mrs. Nolan was a 
consecrated Christian woman. She joined the Baptist church in early life in 
Mississippi, and was one of the original members in the organization of the 
Baptist church in Fairfield, back in the 50's before the civil war.  She was 
the eldest living member of the Baptist church in Fairfield, and one of the 
oldest Baptist ladies of the county at the time of her death.  Her life was a 
faithful, patient record of loving service to her children and her family.  Her 
term of years having been extended beyond the allotted "three score and ten," 
she lived to see grandchildren and great grandchildren grow up around her, and 
learn to love her in return for her tender affection for them. Until about a 
year ago, she possessed remarkable health and vigor for one of her age; and 
death when it came, was only a gradual wearing away of life's tenement of clay 
to release her spirit for its return to Him who gave it. She died in the full 
triumph of the Christian's hope, and her freed spirit is now in the eternal home 
of the blessed.
   The deceased was formerly Miss Sarah Applewhite, a member of a well known and 
prominent family of Mississippi. She had three children living and three dead.  
Mrs. A. G. Anderson, with whom she had made her home for many years, was her 
youngest daughter.  Her remains were interred at 4 o'clock last Tuesday evening 
in the Fairfield cemetery, Rev. J. W. Holt officiating, assisted by Rev. G. A. 
Coulson.
