Ruth Ann (Carter) Oates

RUTH ANNE OATES
Funeral services were held Saturday for Ruth Ann Oates, 63, of Fairfield who 
died Wednesday, Jan. 28, at M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston.

Mrs. Oates was born in Dallas on Sept. 2, 1945 to Ted and Jesse Edwards Carter.

She attended Woodrow Wilson High School where she graduated in 1963.

Mrs. Oates lived in Waxahachie and Fairfield with her husband of 43 years, Gary.

She worked as a florist and was the first president of the Genealogical Society 
of Ellis County.

Mrs. Oates was also a member of the First Baptist Church of Fairfield.

Services were held Saturday at Keever's.

Mrs. Oates is survived by her husband, Gary Oates of Fairfield; sons, Steven 
Wayne Oates and wife Kristy, and Thomas Monroe Oates III; sisters, Gloria Jean 
Gass and Donna Gaye Carter Knowles; and three grandchildren, Justice, Natalie 
and Dillon Oates.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ted and Faye Carter; brothers, Billy 
and Glenn Carter; sisters in-law, Betty and Julia Carter; and sister, Carole 
Lynn VanderMiller.

Arrangements were made by J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis.
